Folding Solar Panels

Solar
technology has come a long way from when it was first developed in the
1950’s. Using thin film technology, scientists have been able
to create small flexible panels that can be rolled or folded for easy
storage and packing.
Some folding solar panels still use the rigid technology and fold on
a hinge. Most new panels use the thin film process and are flexible
enough to be rolled or folded. These panels generate about twenty five
to thirty watts. Although this is not a massive amount of energy, they
still have useful applications.
The folding panels can be used to power an mp3 player or a cell phone
charger. There are lots of camping accessories that can also run off
of these panels such as water purifiers and fans. The panels are also
great for marine applications. What better place to harness the sun
than in the middle of a sunny lake?
